At 29, Renee is not even close to having a relationship. Her job as a detective doesn't help, as she spends most of her time tailing cheating husbands whom she can't help but despise. She'd really like to skip the husband and get right to having a baby, but she can't afford the treatments or the technology to make that happen in a test tube.
One night, after another desperate but failed attempt to make headway with her phobias by going to a nightclub with a friend, she stumbles upon a guy outside who is bleeding from a fight to defend his girlfriend's honor. His sweet nature and the rubbing alcohol she uses to clean him up have a strange and combustible affect on her, and unleash a brief, weekend long release from fear. Sure she's finally become normal, she indulges in a rush of pleasure with five different guys in the space of two days.
Waking up on Monday morning as if waking up from a dream, she realizes she's been playing with fire. When her world is tossed upside down, she resolves to track the five guys down. Armed only with their first names, she needs her detective skills and the help of her judgmental older sister and astonished friend to find out if there could possibly be a happy ending to her long, lonely struggle.
